Matthew 11:28
«“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.»
Jesus calls the weary, not the already-put-together
Understand the verse
What this verse is about
Jesus speaks to people who are tired, burdened, and spiritually worn. He does not ask them to fix themselves before coming. His rest is not a prize for the strong; it is a gift for those who come to Him honestly.
Context
Verses 29–30 continue the invitation by describing Jesus as gentle and lowly in heart. The contrast is between crushing burden and the good yoke of learning from Him. That is why this verse speaks so strongly to burned-out people.
When people especially turn to it
In burnout, shame, emotional overload, or any season where carrying everything alone is no longer possible.
A short prayer
Jesus, I come weary. Give me your rest and teach me your gentleness.
