Philippians 4:13

«I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.»

Christ gives strength for faithfulness, not a blank check for any ambition

Understand the verse

What this verse is about

This verse is often used as a slogan for personal success, but Paul is saying something more durable. Christ strengthens him to remain faithful through hunger, abundance, and changing conditions. The point is endurance and contentment, not self-exaltation.

Context

Read Philippians 4:11–12 with verse 13 and the meaning sharpens. Paul has just spoken about learning contentment in both lack and abundance. So this is not a promise of any outcome; it is strength to stay faithful in whatever comes.

When people especially turn to it

When you need resilience for a hard season without confusing God’s strength with ego.

A short prayer

Jesus, strengthen me for what you called today—and to surrender what isn’t yours.
